Self-love & EFT:
Ways to a more positive self-image
Do you know the feeling of not being good enough? For years I plagued myself with doubts and self-criticism and was convinced that I wasn't lovable or valuable enough. But by integrating various methods, especially Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT), my self-image has fundamentally changed: Today, I look at myself more lovingly and confidently.
In this article you will learn how you too can use EFT to develop more self-love and gain a more positive self-image.
Why a healthy self-image is the foundation for all areas of life
Everything we want to achieve - be it professional success, financial independence or a fulfilling partnership - is based on the way we see and treat ourselves. A strong, loving self-image is the foundation that supports our dreams. When we trust and value ourselves, we dare to do more, make better decisions and are less discouraged by setbacks. Self-love is therefore far more than just a feeling; it is the basis for developing our full potential and shaping a life according to our ideas.
What is EFT?
EFT, also known as the "tapping technique", combines elements of acupressure with aspects of modern psychology. When tapping specific meridian points on the body, you concentrate on a particular emotional or physical issue. This combination of physical stimulation and mental focus can release negative beliefs and emotional blockages and strengthen a balanced nervous system.
Why EFT helps with self-love
Self-love means accepting, respecting and appreciating yourself. However, obstructive beliefs and negative emotions often stand in our way. This is exactly where EFT comes in:
Dissolving old patterns: Negative beliefs such as "I am not good enough" can be identified and transformed with EFT.
Reduction of self-criticism: Tapping can lower stress hormones, which noticeably helps to calm the "inner critic".
Promotion of positive emotions: EFT opens up space for self-acceptance and inner strength, making it easier to deal with yourself in a more loving way.
My personal experience with EFT
For a long time, I suffered from low self-esteem. Years of bullying and exclusion made me believe that I didn't belong and wasn't worthy of love. This inner deficiency affected all areas of my life: My school performance deteriorated, I feared social contact and lived in a constant feeling of powerlessness. Eventually, I even developed a fear of being noticed, which later had a negative impact on my professional success.
Then I discovered EFT and started tapping regularly with an EFT coach:
First steps: At first I was skeptical as to whether this would really help me. But the very first sessions brought noticeable relief.
Turning negatives into positives: When I caught myself thinking badly about myself, I used EFT to specifically dissolve these sentences.
Lasting change: Over the months, I noticed that I became gentler and more loving towards myself. I realized that I had gotten a lot of things "wrong" and a part of me believed I deserved the bullying (children often tend to do this, unfortunately). But the more past situations I resolved and integrated with the help of EFT, the stronger my self-love and self-acceptance became. As a result, I gained more and more self-confidence and finally felt comfortable and safe in my body again.
Why pure "mental work" without physical work is rarely sustainable
Mental or conversational solutions often fall short because they ignore the nervous system and our physical reactions. We may know at a mental level how we should behave or that certain fears are unfounded, but if the body is still on alert, we experience the same triggers again and again. This is exactly where EFT comes in: tapping involves both mind and body in the transformation process, so that old, stuck patterns can also be released on a physical and emotional level.
Conclusion
EFT can be a powerful method to sustainably improve your self-image and develop more love for yourself. My own experience has shown me how transformative the tapping technique can be. By dissolving old, self-critical beliefs and activating positive feelings, you can gradually gain more self-acceptance and self-confidence.
Professional support: Especially at the beginning, it is helpful to work with an experienced EFT coach.
